We found a place to live!

We have had a pretty stressful week trying to find a place to live in Richmond! Even though we have a couple months before we move unfortunately in the area we are looking at most students move in by July at the latest and by August most rentals are non-existent or the "left overs". So, we were a little worried! We really wanted to stay in the city/downtown area being that we will only have one car and Cameron's school is in the heart of the city, ideally we were hoping he could bike to school. Well after a few emotional breakdowns and the fear that we wouldn't have this figured out by the time we bring our little family (which will include a 6 week old baby!) to the city, everything fell into place! Last minute I called this place and spoke with a leasing agent who was so kind to me and knew that we would have a difficult time finding something , she decided to hold off on posting an apartment that would be available August 5th! She apparently could hear the desperation in my voice when I told her we would have a newborn baby and a 3 year old. I later found out that she was graduating from VCU the next day and had versed her co-worker on my situation and he mentioned that he thought the two of us were friends because she was being such an advocate for me in not telling anyone else about the property and saying" they need this place, it has to be theirs, DO NOT LIST it! " Everything had to happen very quickly for it all to work out so we had to act fast which made for a very busy Saturday. Apparently these apartments are in high demand and rarely stay listed for more than a day. We had a friend of a friend who was willing to lug her 3 kids along to view the property for us and make sure it was a good fit. Seriously, she drove 25 minutes on a Saturday into the city with her 3 kids to do this for a total stranger...? I'm so humbled by her kindness.

Anyway long story short I know that heavenly father heard our prayers and knew that among all of the other stresses that will come along with a hectic move, a guaranteed roof over our head was essential!

We will be living in a place that is a converted School Building from the early 1900's. In 2005 the school was mostly gutted and updated to house 20+ Lofts. We are renting the smallest and most simple floorplan as it's more of an apartment than a loft. Most of the units are much bigger, but the great thing about it is the tenants are more of a young professional crowd vs. the undergrads that would have potentially been our neighbors in other buildings. This place is very secure, and in a great area called the Museum District. We are about half a mile from the Children's Museum walking distance to restaurants, shops, and a handful of other historic sites. Cameron will also be a little over 2 miles from Campus. We are so grateful this is one less thing we have to worry about!
